From their founding in 2011 by songwriter/author/translator Jean René and his son, author Pierre Ducrozet, Bulles de savon (soap bubbles in French!) have sought to combine literary excellence and art. Music, history, literature and biography are at the heart of our subjects, and readership ranges from the very young through early young adult. Many of our books, particularly our classic “Who Are You?” series, are meant to be read by adults and children alike.
Over the past four years, Bulles de savon have published some of the leading authors and illustrators in France, as well as some who are lesser-known. Our books have received important awards such as the 2013 Reading in the Dark Award (for the audio book Louis Armstrong), the 2015 Joël Sadeler Poetry Prize (for Daniel Lacotte’s and Lola Roig’s picture book Sparkles), the 2015 Literary Citizenship for Agnès de Lestrade’s novel My Dear Little Heart… The list goes on, and our books are beginning to be translated around the world (My Dear Little Heart was recently published in Korean).
Bulles de savon’s books are unique in their dedication to poetry, both in image and in text. Each title is conceived, written and illustrated with the utmost elegance, precision, and – let us not forget – imagination.
